How the voice-tracked teleprompter works

iPrompter is a free online teleprompter that uses your browser's built-in speech recognition. Paste a script, start reading, and the text scrolls forward as you speak — pause naturally and it pauses with you. No subscription, no download, no account.

  1. Step 1Paste any script — a speech, a YouTube intro, a pitch, a vlog outline. Up to tens of thousands of words.
  2. Step 2Pick a mode. Voice scrolls with your speech. Auto scrolls at constant speed. Manual lets you scroll by hand.
  3. Step 3Hit the red Roll button to record yourself reading. Your camera composites with the script overlay and saves as a .webm file on your device.

Is iPrompter really free?

Yes — 100% free. No signup, no subscription, no watermark on the teleprompter view. The only watermark is a small iprompter.uk tag in the corner of saved video recordings.

How does the voice-tracked scrolling work?

iPrompter uses your browser's Web Speech API to listen as you read. It matches your spoken words against the script in real time and scrolls forward in sync. Pause and it pauses. Skip ahead and it catches up. You can adjust sensitivity and read-ahead distance in settings.

Can I record video while using the teleprompter?

Yes. Press the red Roll button to record. The camera feed is composited with a small watermark and saved as a .webm file. Nothing is uploaded — your video never leaves the device.

Which browsers support voice mode?

Voice mode works in Chrome, Edge, and Safari (browsers that expose the Web Speech API). Manual and Auto scroll modes work in any modern browser including Firefox. iPrompter is installable as a Progressive Web App on iOS, Android, Windows, and macOS for offline use.

Do I need to install anything or sign up?

No. Just open iprompter.uk in your browser and paste your script. There is no account, no signup, no email required. Optionally, install the PWA from the browser menu for a home-screen icon and offline access.
